Bryan blog, day 2

Day 2, June 9th.

Very busy day but very fun & humbling. Went for a morning run in the beautiful scenery of the sugar cane fields @ 6:30am. We visited Upperroom Church in Empangeni led by Pastor David Pierre Ndayaho & met 2 possible future Beacon of Hope teams to teach the Smart Choices program. They treated us to a tasty lunch of chicken, beef, salads, chips (French fries) & drinks. After that we met up at Pastor Derrick's church in Esikhawini. We had a chance to stand up & introduce ourselves to the church, that was fun. I even had an opportunity to read some Scripture (James 1:2-3) and talk about how it applies to our lives, that was a cool moment, I enjoyed it. Both churches are small & run down compared to the churches we're used to seeing in Orange County. There love for worship & prayer is very strong and real! Then we went to a 3rd church in Mtunzini where I met Pastor Thulani & our teammates for the Smart Choices program. My teammates are Julie Horn, Mandla, Semphiwe, Fundiswa Magwaza & Pastor Thulani. After that we decided to stop by Pastor Clements house where he also runs a church & orphanage. It was fun passing out clothes, toys to all kids & playing around with them. We finished off the night eating dinner at McDonald's around 10pm. The fire alarm had been going off for around 2hrs so we ate outside in the car, haha. Glynn Smith & I stood out in the cold to eat.
It was a very long day but it was fun hanging out with my friends & meeting so many new people.
